Original LPM Artists The initial division into groups, produced some positive results. The first group to emerge as a group was a group of six boys (Eldridge  “Darryl” Cochran, Lamont Poinsette, Armon Thomas, Derrence Reid, Derrick McDonald and Bryant Thomas).  Four of the boys (Eldridge “Darryl” Cochran, Lamont Poinsette, Armon Thomas and Derrence Reid) formed a singing group and the other two boys (Derrick McDonald and Bryant Thomas) were natural percussionists, and they became part of the band. Because there were so many girls, it took a little while before the girl groups were ready to perform, however, a few of the girls started singing with the band as band vocalists. These vocalists included, Loretta Hall, and Teresa “Bay-Bay” Johnson. Collins “Boo”  McDonald, Pierre Sledge and William “Kee-Kee” Jackson were the male vocalists for the band. Prior to the girl groups start singing, some of the girls put together some little dance ensembles, where they would provide a little dancing at some of the earlier LPM performances.  The ensembles included, the “Johnson Sisters (Bonnie & Bay-Bay) and two “little” girls, (Roberta Johnson and Leontye Ray) that called themselves “Noonie & Leontye.” We would like to point out that, one time when the SCOPE drill team was performing at a Chicago Bulls game during half time,  and after Noonie & Leontye finished their regular performance, they went back out to do an encore performance . . . and the duo got their own separate standing ovation. Choosing a name for the organization The organization had a band, five vocal groups and some dancers,  it became time to choose a name for the organization.  The band consisted of Charles Lewis on organ, Doris McDonald on organ, David Parks on drums, Collins “Boo” McDonald on bass guitar  and Derrick McDonald, Bryant Thomas and Pierre Sledge on percussions, and then there were five vocal groups. One day while rehearsing, the subject of naming the organization came up.  Doris McDonald (R.I.P.) said, “well, since Charles  started the group why don’t we name it The Charles Lewis Band,”  That idea was immediately killed by Charles himself.  Then Doris said, “well, since the band was made up of Charles Lewis, David Parks and the McDonald Family, why don’t we name it the "Lewis, Parks and McDonald Band?”  Charles immediately got another idea from that particular suggestion, he said “instead of using the three names why don’t we just use the three initials . . . why don’t we name the whole thing “LPM Productions”  The name was voted on by the entire group and it became official.  As years passed the name expanded to LPM Productions  Entertainment Company  (on paper). . . but the group and the general public continued to only use  “LPM Productions” as the official name, and eventually the members and the public beginning using the simple nickname . . .  “LPM.” Back in early 70’s the members of LPM Productions vowed to make the name “LPM Productions” a household name in the South Chicago community.  In a few short years that became a reality, and in its own right, L P M  Productions became one of the most successful entertainment organization in the entire city of Chicago. Between the years of 1972 and 2004, LPM Productions was based in “South Chicago,” on the street named “Burley Avenue,” in an apartment located at “9021.” LPM Production is eternally grateful to the late Rev. Nebraska Burrage, the Burrage family and the members of the Greater Rising Sun M.B. Church for opening their doors (church basement) and allowing L P M  Production to operate in a neat, clean, well heated, and air conditioned facility..  For a numbr of years L P M  Production had a place to rehearse, audition new talent, and run a successful year round music program.  With the use of church facility, L P M  Productions was able to employ 60 neighborhood youths thru a City of Chicago year round program.  L P M  Productions ran the youth employment program for over seven years.
